The DNB programme in the Department of Gastroenterology was started in the year

2005 with two seats under the mentorship of Dr. Girish Naik and Dr. Ajay Kumar Jain.

Over the last 16 years, 24 candidates have registered out of which 13 have cleared the examination conducted by the Nation Board of Examinations, New Delhi. Dr Gunjan Joshi was awarded the gold medal in Gastroenterology in 2009. Presently there are 6 candidates undergoing training in the department. Three students left before the completion of training. The department has successfully conducted national conferences like ISGCON in 2015 and ENDOCON in 2021. The department also has numerous publications in the indexed national and international medical journals.
