Department has a significant value on International and National grounds in Dietetics and Nutrition.

A big team of Dieticians with great experiences and good credentials is working at the hospital from the academic perspective, they are efficiently providing practical training to budding future dieticians, and more than thousands of dieticians have been training at our institution.

Academia holds firm ground as many academic programs are available at this department, including practical training, international fellowship programs, dissertation work, short-term training, regular internship, specialized training, RD Internship and so on.

Practical learning is the most vital part of this profession and is sometimes mandatory to complete their post-graduate curriculum.

Students of Nutrition and Dietetics science gain basic Knowledge by learning theoretical aspects during their college curriculum. These internship programs build their confidence in applying that Knowledge here with us. It’s based on the Knowledge to action.

The continuous process of academic activities held at the Department of Dietetics throughout the year includes regular CNE (Continuous Nutrition Education) Programs, Clinical nutrition case presentations by our RD Students and RD Trainers and fellow colleagues.

1).  INTERNATIONAL BURNS NUTRITION FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Short Description of courses

It’s an international fellowship program available through Interburns (an International network of training education and research in burns) www.interburn.org.

This fellowship program has been developed under the capacity building for burns professionals, and the aim is to train more burn team members for nutrition support services.

This program is a unique training program as none of the institutions across the globe is conducting such a program. We began in 2014 and trained many country fellows through this fellowship program, including the UK, GHANA, Nepal, Malawi, and India. A total of 12 fellows have received training.

The application process is through the Interburns website, and interested candidates can fill out and submit their application through email; the selection process is through Interburns core committee and a strong commitment from the applicant.

Who can apply- anyone who has a strong commitment towards the management of burn and specialized in any field of burns multidiscipline (Dietician, Nutritionist, Nurse, Doctor and therapist) can send their application throughout the year

Duration- There is no fixed duration for this fellowship program, but we suggest at least one month to learn practical skills.

Course Includes-

This program is based on the practical posting, ward rounds, case presentation, and a short research dissertation work in burns nutrition during this fellowship.

2). REGISTERED DIETICIAN INTERNSHIP

Brief description

Department of Dietetics, Choithram Hospital and Research Center is the only Madhya Pradesh institute with a maximum seat (6) for Registered Dietician Internships accredited by the RD board of the Indian Dietetic Association.

A registered Dietician Internship is a mandatory part of fulfilling the eligibility criteria to write the All India registration exam by IDA India. (It’s a competitive exam held annually).

Duration-

It’s a six-month specific internship program based on the competency package by the RD board.

Seats- 6 seats

Eligibility-

Postgraduate students of Nutrition and Dietetics with a valid degree from a UGC-recognized University in India.

Application and admission process-

Our department conducts a short entrance test based on the basic knowledge of nutrition and dietetic science, which an individual applicant needs to pass to get eligibility for admission to this Internship program.

3). SHORT TERM DIETETIC INTERNSHIP

Brief description

This internship is meant to fulfil the degree requirement and provides an overview of practical application knowledge in nutrition and dietetics.

Duration-

It takes a few weeks to a few months. (Depending upon the institutional and candidate’s requirement)

Seats- UPTO 40

Eligibility-

Undergraduate and postgraduate students of nutrition and dietetics.

Application and admission process-

A reference letter from the institution and an application from the candidate are required to obtain admission to this program.

The important dates-any date is acceptable for this program.


4). GENERAL INTERNSHIP
Brief description-

This Internship program is meant to train more postgraduate dietetic students where they learn and enhance their practical skills in depth under the supervision of their senior dieticians.

Duration-

Minimum of three months to six months and can be upto a year.

Seats-

Upto 20.

Eligibility-

Candidates held a master’s degree and diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized university.

Application and admission process-

Direct applications through email or in person, which includes their attested documents of degree and mark sheets and a statement of purpose to enrol for this program.

5). DISSERTATION WORK-
Brief description-

Research is an essential part of best practices and learning, and many universities have a separate module for dissertation work at the graduate and postgraduate levels in Nutrition and Dietetics.

We accept students from recognized universities who wish to fulfil their dissertation work under our clinical nutrition supervisors.
